About the Author
Yolanda Marshall, debuting author, was
born on August 25, 1973, in Birmingham, Alabama. Ms. Marshall is the
sixth of thirteen siblings and the mother of two children ages
sixteen and eleven. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business
Administration from Faulkner University in Montgomery and a Masters
Degree in Public Management from Troy University in Montgomery,
Alabama.
From Humble yet challenging beginnings marred by poverty and the
subtle contractions to Christian upbringing, Ms. Marshall’s
childhood was fertile ground for the planting of both seeds of
blessings and curses, constructive and destructive motives for love,
acceptance and happiness. Her family life played roles of both hero
and villain.
Recognized for her loving, caring, nurturing, sincere nature even as
a small child, falling in love and committing herself to a serious
relationship in her teens only seemed natural. Reciprocating her
love, attention and affection, something that seemingly had eluded
her, she opened her self up to intimacy staking a claim on
motherhood, at sixteen years of age.
On her own, living with the baby’s father and their daughter, her
long awaited haven soon proved to be as turbulent, mentally,
emotionally, physically and socially abusive as the world she’d left
behind. Transitioning from this relationship to being a young unwed
mother on her own would lead to a season in living the party life,
another relationship leading to her second child, live in
relationship and certain repeated abuses, two failed marriages and
more wounds of brokenness.
Crying out to the God of her youth for answers, He would answer and
over a period of a few short years would catapult her into the
realms of spiritual understanding and move her toward becoming
whole. Through a chain of events she crossed paths with those that
would be instrumental to her healing and deliverance.
While reflecting on her challenging journey and the many hurtles
she’d been blessed to overcome through determination and faith in
talking with a dear minister friend, she was infused with a desire
to share her story with others, both broken women and girls and the
men in their lives. Her life’s purpose for the first time was clear,
her profound passion to reach out to those mentally, emotionally,
physically, even socially broken, divinely revealed: she would
author a book detailing her journey through a life of brokenness,
repeating many negative life cycles to her discovery, recovering,
healing and deliverance—in her first book debut—From Victim To
Virtuous. |
