About The Book “Itty Bitty Saves the Day” is a heartwarming picture book about a little Dachshund puppy that is born with special needs.  Through tender care from his owner, MaryAnn, Itty Bitty is soon strong enough to eat alongside his brothers and sister.  Itty Bitty is the runt of the litter, though, and has very BIG feet.  He tries to keep up with his brothers and sister, but is just not strong enough.  All of the puppies seem to be growing up big and strong, except for Itty Bitty.  -–But then, one beautiful, sunny day, Itty Bitty finds his doggie family in the middle of an emergency.  Itty Bitty’s size works to his advantage, and through his heroic actions he is able to save the day for his family.  The original, color photographs and story relay one of life’s true lessons to young children: “Even though you are little, you can do big things!”   It is hoped that this simple story will inspire children of all ages, but especially children with special needs who know what it is like to be “Itty Bitty”.

Inspiration for the Book It was Itty Bitty’s struggle to survive and his unconditional love for everyone that he comes in contact with that inspired the author to put this picture book together.  Itty Bitty was initially given just three days to live by the family veterinarian, but the little puppy survived against all odds and by the grace of God.  The pictures were collected during the first two months of Itty Bitty’s life and the story wrote itself once the pictures were assembled.

About The Author Itty Bitty lives with MaryAnn and Armando Garza in Camarillo, California, U.S.A.  Armando Garza is the church administrator at Calvary Chapel Camarillo, and loves one of God’s greatest creations: the Dachshund.

What a delightful and heart-felt story. This book is a refreshing oasis to tender young eyes and plays a sweet tune on the heart strings of all puppy lovers. I could hardly wait to share it with my grandchildren. My grandsons read it and loved the book. Their comment was; "Such a small dog, did such a BIG thing! My class and I were lucky enough to receive this book as a gift for our class. I am a special education teacher and after reading it to my class, they were inspired. Even though my students have special needs they CAN succeed and achieve their dreams. They learned from Itty Bitty that heros come in all shapes and sizes. If you teach regular or special education, you must get this book for your class!
